Training With Wolfram Wittig in Germany

Wolfram Wittig & Breitling W

Kim had the amazing opportunity to spend most of 2005 and 2006 living in Rahden, Germany as a working student for Wolfram Wittig. Herr (Mr.) Wittig is an accomplished rider, trainer, and breeder best known for coaching six-time World Champion and four-time Olympic Gold Medalist Isabell Werth. He is also famous for breeding many horses with top placings at the Young Horse World Championship. This includes Cayenne W, the winner of the first test for the 2007 5 yr. old World Championships. Herr Wittig is the breeder of Blind Date, Bertolli, and Baldaserrni, each with top placings at the world championships. Most of these horses are fathered by Wolfram Wittig's Grand Prix stallion, Breitling, with whom he has had great success in international Grand Prix competition.

Brigitte Wittig & Kim Schisler

While working and training with Wolfram Wittig and his wife Brigitte, Kim had the opportunity to ride two Grand Prix schoolmasters, including a horse that Anky Van Grunsven rode to World Cup victory. She also rode horses of varying levels and temperaments from the 5-year-old gelding by Breitling schooling at second level to Herr Wittig’s 6-year old stallion, Berkley W, already trained to Prix St. George, as well as Wolfram Wittig's Grand Prix competition horses, Breitling W. and Barilla W. Daily training sessions including everything from basic work to schooling piaffe and passage.

The Wittigs & Kim Schisler

During the course of her training in Germany, the Wittigs gave Kim a seemingly limitless array of opportunities to ride their best horses and attend the top European dressage competitions. These opportunities to learn from the best accelerated Kim's knowledge, skills, and enjoyment of the sport. Returning to the United States, Kim was more determined than ever to teach and train to the same high standards that she had been fortunate to experience in Germany.
